Microsoft Office Mac 2008 shipping date 'formalised'

Microsoft announces the new Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac OS X is slated to ship on the 15th January 2008 (pushed back from the original mid-late 2007 release date)...and brings with it compatibility to open and edit documents in the new-format MS Office 2007 for Windows that's already in deployment .
Office 2008 will be a Universal Binary and have new features and significant improvements to existing functionality. There will be two editions: Home & Student Edition, which will contain Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Entourage only, and Special Media Edition, which will also include Expression Media, Microsoft's rebranding of iView MediaPro. There will be upgrade path available for owners of earlier versions of Office - local pricing is yet to be announced.
